Emily Gittings

Co-Founder

1997

Born in Richmond, VA

2015-2017

Graduated high-school and began internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the neurology and telemedicine departments

2017

Began B.Sc. at McGill University in Montreal in Psychology and minor in Neuroscience

2018

Basic neuroscience research training at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston

2018 - 2022

Worked as a lab assistant in a neuroscience lab at McGill University, won an award in honor of Brenda Milner (founder of cognitive neuroscience)

2022

Graduated McGill University and moved to Richmond VA

2023

Began studying paid advertisement and SEO through online coursework and many many many books and podcasts

2023

Emily & Ben came up with the idea to launch Spur Pond Marketing at the family camp & signed their first client a few months later.

Benjamin Peters

Co-Founder

1990

Born in Maldon, United Kingdom.

2003

Started with the RAF Air Cadets building leadership and youth military training gaining ranks to end with Flight Sergeant by the time he left at age 18.

2005

Started Umpiring & Coaching Field Hockey in England gaining Level 1 Accreditation in both diciplines. Also became Captain of the local mens club Sudbury Hockey Club's 4th team.

2009

Moved to Pittsburgh, PA to be closer to his american family. Started in the USA & NCAA system in Field Hockey and locally in Pittsburgh.

2011

Started Coaching for Pittsburgh Venom Field Hockey Club as their first Assistant Coach.

2012

Received an International Badge representing the USA from the FIH (International governing body of field hockey).

2013

Became Head Coach of Pittsburgh Venom FHC & Umpired the DII NCAA National Championship Game.

2014

1st Senior International Cap, Mexico City, Mexico.

2017

Became Owner & Club Director of Pittsburgh Venom FHC with a membership of 45 and no regular season or National championships.

2018

Pittsburgh Venom FHC won their first regular season championships in U14 & U16 age groups.

2019

Umpired in his first Pan American Games (Olympic Qualifier) in Lima, Peru & PIttsburgh Venom won their first National Indoor Championship with the U14 team.

2021

PIttsburgh Venom FHC won their first U16 & U19 National Indoor Championships.

2022

Umpired his first Pan American Cup (World Cup Qualifier) & 1st World Level FIH event in South Africa.

2023

Umpired his 2nd Pan American Games, 1st FIH Pro League appearance & went to the U-21 World Cup in Malaysia and was Video Umpire on the Gold Medal game.

2023

Emily & Ben came up with the idea to launch Spur Pond Marketing at the family camp & signed their first client a few months later.

2024

Ben became Club Administrator for Pittsburgh Venom and hiring a Club Director when membership reached over 200. Was appointed to the Big 10 Conference championship, the D1 NCAA National Championship game & was awarded "USA Umpire Of The Year".

2025

Ben currently sits at 68 International umpiring caps & 6 National Indoor Championships as well as 24 regular season tournament championships & is going to his secon Pan Am Cup in Chile and his second U-21 World Cup in India.
